Dune lore is bugnuts insane, and you either vibe with it or don't. I haven't met any gray area friends with the books or the new movie when, funny enough, most of the themes are about the grayness of morality and being wary of messiahs/saviors/heroes lol

But seriously. I've read /all/ the books, and I still feel that consistently Dune Part 1 did absolutely nothing to prepare people for the absolute shitstorm of whacked out lore to come. It'll be hilarious to see, but glad Part 2 isn't divisive because of it.

Spoilers below from the books.

Prescience barely got explained, it seemed like vague dreams until he's screaming about the Jihad. More on that later.
Spice =/= sand, and yet, most of my friends had no idea what was going on with that.
Toddler running around the battlefield is going to be hysterical.
Bene Gesserit eugenics program is going to be beyond confusing.
Leto II should be in it, but probably won't be.
There's going to have to be an enormous amount of political exposition. Spacing Guild, Landsraad, Padishah Emperor, to name a few. Orange Catholics after the presumable time jump from the...
Jihad. It is going to be difficult to squeeze in a galaxy spanning conquest where trillions die without some ridiculous editing magic to get the point across.

Etc. My biggest gripe with Part 1 was basically "Here are the Houses, this is Spice, this is Arrakis, Paul has dreams, stay tuned for Part 2."
