The term deadname comes from the historical precedence of police/media / family who misgender and deadname trans people after dying (suicide, murder, etc) There is also historical precedence for trans people and members of the LGBTQ+ community being targeted for harassment, assault, and murder under the auspice of dating (which continues to this day) I'd imagine the justification for that is going by whats on file officially their name and sex. And while I can kinda understand that I feel a compromise could be. Bring up the dead name and sex initially but then say they preffered x name and pronoun then roll with that rest of the article. Anyways this is fucking horrible.
