Meh, I don't want or prefer carryover. I've probably several hundred of games in my life. A lot of which have sequels. I have NEVER played a game that carried over progress to the sequel. So with that, I wouldn't expect or even consider carryover a thing (I've heard they exist with games like.HACK and other games from people who complain about this on the Rebirth board, I just personally never played any of them).

Since I didn't play the original first, I consider these completely standalone games in the same sense that there's no carryover between KH1, KH2, or KH3 (and all the side games in between). Or Metroid Prime Trilogy games. Remastered games don't tend to carry over save data from the original games either.

Another example is the Dynasty Warriors games. I started with Dynasty Warriors 2 and played every single mainline one up to 9. If my character progression from 2 carried over into DW3, or DW3 carried over into DW4, I'd enjoy the game less. I actually enjoy the collecting and improving aspect of games. I like to start each game fresh. One of the reasons I love Astlibra Revision. I enjoy unlocking and building up all of those weapons and armor.
