In the case of mental illness I get that they need saving from themselves to a certain extent. Youre completely wrong on everything else though.

Why must they be saved from themselves? Aren't they human beings? Do you think mentally ill means too stupid to decide? How do you know they aren't going through pain and suffering and life just isn't getting better? If they want to reach out and get help they have many avenues. If they're bound and determined because their life had been one constant mess of emotional misery and shitty circumstances, they'll find a way. Isn't you deciding that their life must be lived how you Demand just as selfish and short-sighted as Muh Gawd sends sinners who dont die when he wills it to Hell?
