You're getting a little too deep into the argument and starting to lose the thread. The comic is about super manly characters from fiction who are completely incapable of integrating into regular society, so a manly man from the future that's so manly they literally changed his name to Commander badass so that they could sell more toys of him has to come back and basically play Mommy to a bunch of emotionally shattered heroes as they try to do things like work at walmart. It's absolutely a comedy and the punch line is absolutely machismo.

I mean, to an extent that's fair. However, as I said before it's done with the characters themselves not as the punchline for the vast majority of what's going on. Heck, one could say that it makes more fun of the characters in prog-rock form than it does over normal machismo despite the former lasting for only a dozen or so comics.
