I see this all the time. Family, friend, real life stranger, CE stranger. One of my ex was always on the hunt for the latest & newest dining place right to the point of obsession. And this person I know spends more money on the latest game/gadget than on food/rent/bill/vacation. What about you CE?

Social media is perhaps the biggest culprit, as it often forces you to compare yourself to others who are displaying the most wonderful aspects of their lives. He says it can make you think inward, and develop an unhealthy urge to constantly change yourself to match your own experiences with the ones you see online. The quest for more and more choices in life now creates despair, because people become ever more dissatisfied with what they have when they learn that there is always something else and better around the corner. The tragedy is compounded not just because more choices can lead to increased misery, but also because free choices are often an illusion, since people are actually constrained by numerous objective factors related to social class, race, gender and ethnicity, but are told that they only have themselves to blame when they do not succeed.
