Refresh Rate = How many image frames on a Display/TV can show every second.

Usually, most Monitor/TV Displays have a upper limit.

You usually want to match the Upper Refresh Rate of your Display to be higher for smoother animation of your video feed.

Just wondering, how have you managed to be into gaming for so long and not learned all these basic technical aspects of gaming?

I've heard of PC gamers speak these terms before, so I kind of just relegated it in my mind as belonging to the realm of PCs, not console gaming. So I just never bothered to learn about it. Maybe it's a generational thing, too: for me, going from box TVs to flatscreens, I was only worried about getting my console to run on the TV I was playing on. I didn't care about how to make it look better, or why it was doing what it did. I just accepted it as is.

I guess it's why I laugh at kids who claim they can only play games in 60 fps, because I grew up playing in 30 and find it just fine.
