I can absolutely understand how frustrating that would be, (I would have been devastated if Sanderson hadn't finished The Wheel of Time after Jordan died).
I also absolutely understand that people have flung a lot of hateful, ridiculous shit at Martin, and that the level of entitlement with some of his fans is just next level.
So yeah, if he wants to just say "fuck it", and play videogames instead of finishing the series, then good on him, (but I don't disagree that he should stop promising anything beyond this next book).

That's fair. I want him to finish the damn books, but I don't think he should be harassed. But that's unfortunately a byproduct of Internet anonymity. People say some really terrible things because they don't usually have to worry about the consequences (like all of the psychos that resort to death threats).
