I have a friend like that, he really didn't like DP2, and I just don't get it.

DP1 was the first feature-length comedy in close to a decade that had me rolling throughout, so it had a very special place in my heart. DP2 started off on the worst foot possible with the 'kill off the love interest at the start of the sequel' trope and patting themselves on the back for it in the opening credits; rest of the movie was hilarious and on-par with the original, and obviously they did undo Vanessa's death in the credits scene, but it was really hard to get that sour taste out of my mouth.
