While it's tragic that the book series will likely never be finished, I'm very much in the "he doesn't owe you anything" camp. You paid for the completed books and you got the completed books. You didn't pay money up front for the complete series way back in the 90s, so, he's hardly robbing you.

As for getting a ghost writer or some other means of speeding it along, I would presume and hope that anyone reading Martin's works does so because they enjoy Martin's prose. If all you want is the basic synopsis of how the plot progresses, the TV show has you covered, at least in broad strokes. Attempting to rush him into writing something he's not feeling the full passion for is an excellent way to get a shoddy product.

People attempting to bully him and otherwise being vitriolic are just as childish as the ones throwing their toys out of the pram and declaring that they'll never read another word of his again. There's nothing wrong with moving onto other media while you wait for a continuation, in fact it's quite normal, but doing so out of bitterness and a weird sense of exhaustion is just silly. If the man died over a decade ago, would the first few installments suddenly become meaningless because there was no conclusion? Not if you enjoyed reading them at least once. A book is more than just it's plot. And if hanging onto his every blog post with obsessive anticipation of an update is the sort of thing you do regularly then perhaps you are just the bad sort of fan.

If the book is ever finished, enjoy it on its own merits. And you're really spoilt for choice whilst you wait.
