You might be thinking of the Day After Tomorrow, which tried to ape this name. The Day After was a groundbreaking tv movie about the aftermath of a nuclear war, and was really the first widespread public piece of fiction to really delve into the aftermath of such a war, rather than it being an end of things (not saying it was the first, period, but it was the first to really get most people talking.
