Sure, there's some types that sort of ended up on the weird side of things in gens 1-3 but it was more interesting to me than the world afterwards where basically all pokemon just have the strongest STAB attacking moves, phys/spec depending on their stats, matching their type(s)

I kinda get it. Like trying to work around a pokemon's weakness and creatively use their toolkit to beat opponents is fun. But at the same time, shit like Sandslash and Electrode not learning any stab moves natively, or pokemon like Sneasel just getting utterly shafted by their stats and moveset does suck though.

Shit like gen 1 Aerodactyl having amazing stats but literally no moves besides Hyper Beam and Fly does suck
