And the reason I'm bringing up that it isn't toxic masculinity, is because he says this based on his opinion. He didn't tell men how they should behave, he didn't tell them "you need to be strong for them." He literally said "because they'll throw it back in your face." It's sexist, but there is nothing about that that's toxic masculinity.
