It only took darkmac 2 weeks, but after 2 years, I have finally finished the first season of Gintama!
The show improves from like a 5-6 to 8/10 with a couple of 9/10 episodes. I would think that's pretty damn drastic, but overall I would say it was worth it. By the end it was pretty much one of the funniest shows I have ever seen, up there with School Rumble and Clannad. Not to mention that the show is often emotional as well, and when it pulls it off it's damn great. There were moments where I was literally just crying while laughing at the same time. If only they didn't always try to make their villains sympathetic, because it doesn't always work. Also this is probably like the only show in which I think the toilet humor is actually often hilarious. So many damn dick jokes and **** jokes but it's so random and ridiculous it's amazing. The characters were generally great, though I can't say I really love any of them.
I'm going to take a break from Gintama for a while, so I won't be starting the second season soon. The next show I'm going to take slowly is Kamichu! though that's not going to take very long since it's so short.
