If "throw racists in jail" is considered acceptable, then you also have to consider "throw Christians in jail" acceptable (or "throw non-Christians in jail", or both; amazing how ridiculous this gets when you try to respect the "right to not be offended" of everyone, it's almost like it's not a good idea!)
It's not "throw racists in jail". It's "throw people who are openly racist and offensive to people". That's kind of a bizarre leap to make on your part; I'm sure a lot of people occasionally think racist thoughts, and that's "fine" - there's nothing wrong with thinking something, because you have a chance to rationalize.
But when that thought is translated from brain to mouth - or fingers, in this case - then you're forcing what you have said onto society. And like I said, we are past the stage where that should be tolerated.
