...man, that practice is a lawsuit away from being illegal. there is no way that holds up in courts well for a bunch of jobs.

law enforcement/military however wouldn't be one of them that i can see thrown out easily though. that's a field i can understand this sort of check for. a lot of government positions you give up a lot for, especially those where you have a firearm, so them digging into your personal life is already part of the norm.

the part that gets real troublesome though, even for them, is the password check. that just really can't be legal (and if the cops try to do it to you, oftentime won't be as they've been finding out through the courts). it's too broad a brush to use considering everything else on facebook, including things that can't be asked for.
