60) We Went to the Moon in 1969
From: Even Stephens the Musical
Nominated by: tazzyboyishere
Okay, so to start off I never watched Even Stevens devoutly. I might've caught a couple dozen episodes from time to time but it wasn't something I actively tuned in to watch (but I was all about Lizzie McGuire, That's So Raven, and some others). When the movie came out I'm pretty sure I watched it, but I don't remember this song. So essentially I'm hearing this for the first time. Here are my first impressions as they were made:
-This is kind of catchy, not bad
-... Uh... she's just saying the same things over and over again
- What the crap!? This blows! I'm putting this in last place
-Heh, that black kid refusing to join in is kind of funny
-Yeah, ok that was terrible, they can't seriously think that was good
*plot twist*
-YEEEESSSSSSSSS!!!! OMGGGG
-THAT BLACK KID IS ME!
*second plot twist*
-What an awesome dream sequence
*third plot twist*
-Goddamn, I love this stupid song now, mostly because of this:
So yeah, without the spinoff "Ren got an F" this would've done sooooooo badly.
I do have a short story on something similar that happened when I was in middle school if anyone is interested in hearing it
59) When I See an Elephant Fly
From: Dumbo
Nominated by: Emporer_Kazbar
I love the wordplay in this song! And I love the different crow vocalists. Not a bad placement for a humorous song. :)
58) Proud Of Your Boy
From: Aladdin (Scrapped)
Nominated by: Natwaf_akidna
It's powerful and emotional, but also kind of slow and I can't imagine where this would fit into the movie (which is why it got got). I do like the James Loynes version better than the Alan Menken version, but eh... Beautiful song, beautifully sung, but ultimately uneccesary.
57) What's This?
From: Nightmare Before Christmas
Nominated by: vcharon
What's this? Better question- why this? This has gotta be my least favorite song in NBC, but it's still rather high which should tell you how I feel about this movie's soundtrack in general (severely underrated). Anyway, there's a looot going on in this song. There's basically two tempos: fast, and faster. Because Danny Elfman is singing so fast it kind of sounds more like he's talking/screaming through the song instead. I do love when he slows down a bit and gets that sentimental tone to his voice... but then *gasp* the tempo switches again and he's right back to excitedly jibbering about the things he's seeing! It's really kind of cute though. He reminds me of a kid: "Aunt Genny, what's this? What's that? What's these? What's those! Wow!" I'm actually not an aunt, but I'm a cousin and a babysitter so yeah. Kids are cute, yo (even if they're tone deaf).
