I don't think Amon actually took his Bending away. We didn't see any flashes of light before he pushed him into the drink so I'm more inclined to believe he was only psyching him out.
I hope he still has his Bending at least. His dynamic with Korra was interesting and wouldn't work quite as well without it! >_<
