I just felt sort of let down after all the build up with her worrying about the inevitable future and continuously just pushing it out of her mind. She never actually has to deal with holding onto her identity or however Peeta puts it. You could argue that she manages to do so at the end by outsmarting the gamemakers with the berries, but that really isn't very convincing at all.
Basically, the gamemakers did all of the work for her due to their own incompetence and I don't think it was intentional on Collins's part; she was just too afraid to take things all the way.
Now I want to rewatch Battle Royale.
