Sexual harassment does not have to be an intrinsic part of any community.
I understand his point, but his all-or-nothing approach to the arcade rat mentality is more harmful than it ever was good.
The community is very big on tradition, and 50% of the reason we don't want to jump right into the lap of esports (The other 50% being the shaky foundation of esports as a whole) is because it means taking away a lot of the soul of fighting games, be it toning the hype down or making it more about the paper than it is about the playing. But there's room for compromise. You can be the class clown without being an ignoramus. You can get hype without having to drop and F-bomb every second. (We do it at Evo every year for four or five different majors) I couldn't give less of a crap about esports, but if this is the direction the community wants to go in, we need less people like Aris trying to split the community down the middle.
