Closer, but not exactly what I'm trying to get at. The idea is that black history month, in my own experience, isn't about acknowledging that some people have different skin colors. Anyone can see that. It's all about the context it gives to race. Like, just for a ridiculous example, it is somehow remarkable that George Washington Carver created peanut butter. Not because peanut butter shook the foundation of the world, but because it was created by a black man, and that was considered extraordinary to my elementary school teachers.

No I get that black history month can be seen as pretty condescending to black people, but your last post seems to suggest we should ignore past racism entirely.
