No, it was not Maguire that understood spiderman. It was Raimi. His flicks are lighthearted and fun. Maguire himself has no sense of humor and is not funny enough to be peter parker. This one seems to have a much better Peter, but a much less "spiderman" tone. Kind of sad we couldn't get both right.
Agreed. It looks like a cool enough movie, but I'm not feeling it as a Spider-Man movie. The best I can say is that it feels like Spider-Man got stuck in someone else's movie.
