Alright, I got Pirateking and catastrofy both up to level 8 (and a Repel from Pickup), and moved on to Acculuma Town. Juniper does more tutorial stuff that I guess Cheren is too good for, and I heal up at the Pokemon Center. I also buy some Potions.

Team Plasma does its spiel, the townsfolk act gullible, and then N introduces himself. I hope level 8 is enough for this...

He begins the fight with a level 6 Nincada. I think catastrofy should be able to handle this one. Yes, she can, but three Bug Bites have left her at 3 HP, so I switch to Pirateking as N sends out a level 6 Mankey. She Water Guns the Mankey and the succeeding Purrloin to hell and back, and levels up in the process.

Pirateking is so much stronger than catastrofy. I don't know how much longer the latter can keep up...

Heading out onto Route 2, my mom shows up again and gives me the Running Shoes. Playing the first two generations again must be torture...

Walking into the grass gets me...

Wicklebee, the female Purrloin!
Lv. 8
Careful nature
Limber
Likes to relax.

Jesus Christ, this thing almost killed catastrofy with a critical hit Faint Attack. On the bright side, though, Wicklebee knows Faint Attack! That's a pretty big improvement over the normal Scratch and Assist. Maybe she'll be useful for me.

Team:
Pirateking, the female Oshawott, lv. 9; Bold; Tackle, Tail Whip, Water Gun
catastrofy, the female Zigzagoon, lv. 8; Calm; Tackle, Growl, Tail Whip
Wicklebee, the female Purrloin, lv. 8; Careful; Scratch, Growl, Assist, Faint Attack
