what confuses me is when admins say that the chat logs aren't credible enough to believe the mods posting the info are actually the mods, yet it's credible enough to make the logs moddable!

The identity of people making statements in a chat log can easily be forged so it's not very reliable for trying a statement to a particular person. Regardless of whoever is making the statement, if you are linking to something like leaked usermap info it isn't allowed.
If NGamer was to go into that chat log and systematically delete the mod-only information, but not the actual incriminating stuff (which wasn't mod-only information, iirc), would it then be postable? Or would some other reason appear?
Not sure since it's been a while since I looked at the log. If all the mod only info was removed it can't be hit for leaking mod only information. I'm not sure how effectively you can separate the two, though.
