ratings isn't an excuse - if you put punk and ziggler on a mic people will tune in more than they will for the crap they've given us now. merch should also go up for ziggler and both would get a lot of exposure. the two are fantastic on the mic and in the ring. it's ore than they'd have now and it allows them to have better ratings in the future too.
That's the point, though: Vince is completely reactionary. Any drop in ratings is met with an immediate reaction more than a well thought-out, well-developed long term plan.
He sees a ratings drop with Punk, he reactions immediately.
