basic summary: someone had a contest with varying goals, and one round was to have someone make a topic for you which would be scored by the number of unique posters in the topic
ngirl decided to get Devin Morgan to make a topic titled "Random Moderator Review: nintendogirl1" knowing that the board would get pretty riled up about it since a lot of people here hate mods and think she's a terrible mod
despite assurances that they wouldn't get modded for posting their opinions, multiple people got moderated heavily for explaining why they thought she was so terrible, including all references to a publicly-available chatlog being modded under "moderator discretion"
the topic was removed in an attempt to stem further moderation, so naturally it just exploded all over the board
