Well that's depressing. Though I will say the only candidate I have ever done any work for was Obama (a buddy basically dragged me to help and I needed the money) but all any of us ever did there was work phones, hand out signs, and give out info packet stuff.

I guess now that I think about it that is the only case I personally know of someone actually being an employee of a campaign and not just a paid volunteer.

I worked on Romney's 2008 primary campaign doing basically the same, and yeah, that's not really much of anything. Once you start getting a little closer into the process and seeing to what great lengths the Republicans and Democrats have gone to monopolize the entire process, you lose any desire to work on any major campaign ever again.

I think Romney would be a good President, personally. I think Obama is a good President as well. I think they and their campaigns both did/do some completely despicable things, but I also think that the reason they do those things is because we, as voters, force them into a system where that's the only way to succeed. It's voter ignorance that allows tactics like those to succeed, and if one person will succeed with those tactics, it means every single candidate has to use those tactics. It's like a football game where the refs aren't throwing any flags -- the team that obeys the rules anyway is going to lose every time.
