How do current premium channels like HBO and Showtime deal with that sort of thing? Are you allowed to subscribe just for one month and then cancel without penalty? Or is there something akin to like a cell phone contract where you're locked in for the first 3 months or something, even if you cancel?
It's up to your provider how that works, actually. I have Dish network, I believe they don't charge you anything unless you cancel within the first three months, and $5 if you cancel beforehand.
