Skyward Sword is a strange beast. While I do think the game is pretty good, I can’t help but feel somewhat frustrated with the whole thing. I think that it truly could have been that “best Zelda game ever” that everyone wants if it was designed just a little bit differently. I can see the potential for it in multiple facets of the game, but there are some unsavory design choices holding it back. And overall, I think that’s my biggest problem with Skyward Sword. They seemed so close to having something magical on their hands, but couldn’t quite get all the way there. Perhaps next time they’ll hit the sweet spot, but for now, Skyward Sword will have to settle with “pretty good” as opposed to “best of all time”.
