11. Ashley Wallbridge – Moonlight Sonata

Here is another electronic take on a classic tune.. albeit more in the traditional sense of the word. Moonlight Sonata has always been one of my favourite pieces of classical music, so I was ecstatic to hear that one of my favourite trance producers was taking a stab at it. The results are pretty fantastic. Although I was at first disappointed by the amount of the original tune he chose to highlight, this track has grown on me over time. Instead of the original melody, it's really Ash's production that keeps me coming back. The first instance of Moonlight gives you just enough to get excited, and the build-up that follows just leaves you begging for more. Minutes later the classic melody hits again, except this time it's followed by some of the punchiest synth work I've ever heard.
I've never been much of a fist pumper, but I can't help myself from about 6:00 onward.
