This has absolutely zilch to do with being coddled and the supposed "everybody wins mentality" (which I think is a load of garbage somebody on this board made up, but that's completely not the point I'm trying to make atm). It has to do with the fact that you came home with fantastic grades, and your father, instead of showing some sort of pride in his son's work, honed in on the one single, microscopic blip.

If you could have done better in that class, fine, whatever, do better. But having your achievements completely glossed over is ridiculous. It's the whole "honey and vinegar" story. It sends a message of "your best isn't good enough," which is a horrible message to send to your children.


it may not have to do entirely with the everybody wins mentality, but to say it has "absolutely zilch" is beyond ridiculous.

And the everybody wins mentality does exist. Again, look at SC2's big change a few months ago.
