Time for Jaffar to swoop in with the correct answer.
It's because people are softies and raised in an environment where everyone wins, where they don't know what losing even means until they can't hold a job.
It stems from pluralism. How could you insult what someone does or how they do it? It's their way, so it's perfectly valid for them and you have no right to criticize them. Everyone is right and everyone wins.
Let's not pretend that this attitude is unique to the modern, everyone-wins era. People have always resented taking criticism, and understandably so to a degree. Our current education model has certainly fostered this attitude, however, well beyond a healthy degree.
