At the beginning of the game, there's a guard on top of the castle wall, in the southeast corner. If you approach him, he says something along the lines of, "Ever since Agahnim arrived, everyone began acting strange. I suppose it's only a matter of time before I'm affected too."
I had no idea he was there.
