We might as well be comparing RE4 to Metroid games in that case (seriously, that's how it felt to me when I played RE4 for the first time a few months ago - it felt like a Metroid game where the emphasis on puzzle solving, bright colors, and space tech flair were replaced with all-out action, "photorealism", and a rural setting).
So basically if Metroid is like Resident Evil 4, with all the Metroid taken out in favor of Resident Evil 4?
