Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix by JK Rowling
Stand by Stephen King
Wizard and Glass By Stephen King
Fellowship of the Ring By JRR Tolkien
Wastelands By Stephen King
To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee

You know what's funny about four, maybe five, of these books? They have atrociously slow middles.

Harry Potter - 9, probably the one that comes up first whenever I think of Harry Potter (dem fireworks)
The Stand - 9.5, starts and ends phenomenally well, though a bit of the middle is sleep-inducing
Wizard and Glass - 11 for the first part, 8.5 for the entire book. I'm a bit biased because I quit this book at least twenty times. It gets really good past the middle.
Fellowship - 7.5, its best parts are 10s, its slow parts are 2s. Read it through once then feel free to skip past about 40% of the book on subsequent reads.
The Wastelands - 8? Don't remember much. I finished it in three days. (and Wizard & Glass took two years =D)
To Kill A Mockingbird - 9, a true classic
