The hagfish is a relative of the lamprey that dwells in the deep sea and feeds on carcasses heavy enough to fall into its depths. Not really scary (except its face), but they are plenty disgusting!

And the best part is, when a predators tries to eat it, it ties itself up into knots and emits a putrid slime in an attempt to escape...
Now can you not imagine fighting a giant whale zombie carcass writhing with tons of these creatures spitting acid slime ay you?
