Anagram
There is a belief that a name has power. That by invoking a name a person can gain control or sway over another person. Whether or not that is true, it would seem that the man known only as Anagram believes that. No one knows where Anagram came from five years ago, but it is readily apparent where he has gone by the trail of dead bodies he has left in his wake. Some have speculated that he is a high priced contract killer. Others say he gets off on seeing people die. Only one living soul knows the truth. Anagram is no murderer, nor does he enjoy what he does. He does it because it is his duty. His obligation passed on from father to son, from mentor to apprentice, from dying man to a homeless teenager who had never felt he was worthy of having an obligation to himself, much less another.
Her name is Alicia, and she is the crowned queen of a nation that must remain nameless. The queen of this country has always been sought after from various nefarious organizations and enemies to the crown, so she is constantly on the move with but a single bodyguard. That bodyguard has always been referred to affectionately as “brother.”
Brother Anagram is not the most skilled bodyguard in the history of this order, but he is perhaps the most relentless. Scars riddle his face and body, gashes carved out of his body in service to the queen. There is not a man or woman alive who is more dependable in a pinch – nor more dangerous. There were days when all hope seemed lost, but Anagram’s body refused to die. Refused to allow Alicia to die.
Anagram is not trained, formally, in any hand to hand or weaponized combat. However in an oddly convenient fashion no highly skilled person came after the queen right away. Instead, Anagram was forced to face progressively tougher opponents which allowed him to barely beat the next opponent until after a while he objectively far stronger than when he had started.
Anagram is quiet, although not brooding. His rough childhood is something he does not like talking about, even to the queen who he is sworn to protect. The only thing he will mention to her is that there is a man he has sworn to kill, although the odds of him meeting a particular man while traveling the world containing over six billion people is so remote it is hardly worth mentioning. He is a kind man, and surprisingly gentle with Alicia. Although he is not a man of many words he will become progressively more talkative when around people who wish harm upon his queen; this distraction technique works wonders and makes many opponents underestimate him because of how idiotic and random he seems.
Anagram’s ultimate technique is a punch to the face. He is a big believer in the classics.
Anagram’s dream is to die alone, far away from his queen. That way he knows that he has protected her until the end, even from the pain of his death.
