I didn't watch the fight, but people have made those same excuses in defense of Silva's opponents (and likely in an attempt to discredit him) for years. The fact of the matter is that atop of being the best in his weight division, he is easily in another league when it comes to capitalizing on his opponents' mistakes. As soon as they slip up, they're done. He just has a very admirable knack for it, and I hope he retires soon. As good as he is, he's still 37 and is getting hurt more often and fighting less. He can do something hardly ever seen in combat sports by going out on top, and I'd hate to see what happened to Fedor happen to him, because it will if he sticks around one fight too long.
