I liked Borderlands but my one complaint was that it got boring at times because the map was so large and bland.
Still, I'd get the DLC if you haven't played through it. Especially The Secret Armory of General Knoxx and Claptrap Revolution.
Also if you like zombie games then Zombie Island of Dr Ned will be well worth it too.
The Armory in particular was all kinds of awesome.
