Yeah but it still sounds unnatural, and it's a lot of work just to make people say your character's name. Plus you'd have to do it with EACH voice actor who says it, and you'd have to account for different tones in different scenes (for example, the difference between "Snake, proceed to the tank hangar" and "Snake? Snake! SNAAAAAAAKE!!!"). It would just be way too much work for too little payoff, and you'd probably just have people complaining that the game pronounced their name wrong.

Not to mention that it would all have to be done over again for each different language.
