Using XP. Had a problem a while back where something funky would boot up with my computer and cause it to crash every time. Trying to fix it now without having to get someone else to fix it for me. It boots in safe mode, just not normal mode.

I just recently downloaded Avast to check for viruses and I think it reactivated whatever was disabled before that was causing the problem.

Anyway, this is the error message I get-

Stop: 0X0000008E (0XC0000005, 0XB7A14CAE, 0XB3287B54, 0X00000000)

My memory sticks are fine. It's somethign on the actual harddrive that's causing the problem.
