Ookay. I have enough music to listen to when I get the chance; don't see why being a fan of the comic should necessitate an additional dedication of time to seeking out additional Homestuck-related music and listening to it.
Because it's better than most music out there, for one.

This isn't the entertainment industry. This is a fan project for a webcomic done for a laugh. There's a difference. In a professional production, yes you would have a point. In an amateur one? It's just elitist and pretty cruel.
People are putting some serious effort into this thing though, if you'd take a look at what they've got so far. Don't you realize that the people who do s***tty jobs are actively ruining it for the others? One ugly part can bring an entire animation down.
Also, I'm not glorifying myself. I set high standards for everything and expect the most out of everyone, including myself. I am a perfectionist and dedicated to my work, but you can be sure I slam myself as much as I do everyone else when I do a bad job at something. Setting unrealistically lofty expectations is something that's required in my line of work, where 16 hour work days are common.
It is my philosophy that nothing should be done half-assedly. You should commit fully to everything you do. Which brings us to the matter of Homestuck again.
Yes, if you are a fan of Homestuck you should do research and make sure you understand the plot completely! Yes, you should listen to all the music, because it gives lots of valuable insight! And to your information, most of the music doesn't appear in albums before long after it's used in the comic, so there's no need to fear spoilers.
