You don't think the Galaxies and DKCR are amazing? I'd argue the 2006 - 2011 is the best 5 year time frame Nintendo has ever had.
Galaxy 1 suffered from following the same philosophy as the Wii, focusing on gimmicks rather than quality gameplay, which is actually fair since it was a "new" theme for the series, so they had to hammer it home.
Galaxy 2 was amazing because it stopped being obsessed with putting the "lol gravity" stuff into every level, and just focused on making fun levels.
DKCR had disappointing gameplay because of a bad design philosophy, which was to design levels to be balanced for Diddy and 4 hearts. And even the fact that DK had 2 hearts pretty much ruined the game, because they designed the levels so that being hit is okay, since it's not a OHKO. You can tell this is the problem, because the sections where obstacles are OHKOs (mine cart/rocket levels) are very fun and the level design is excellent.
So 1/3 is kinda bad, even if that 1 is one of the best 3D platformers ever
