The thing is, you can put over 100 hours into something on a handheld (I put 98 into Devil Survivor over the course of about a month and a half, which is by far the most I've put into an individual game just to clear everything, I think). You don't have to play the game in one sitting, and I very rarely sit down and play a game for more than an hour or two at a time.
And then on top of that
Car Trips. You can take them on Car Trips and put in a few hours like that.
