very disappointed that Obama is changing his belief for politics. He obviously is personally against it otherwise he would have supported it earlier.

If anything, he didn't support it earlier for political reasons. And he should have kept that approach going, frankly.

It continues to confuse me how naive otherwise intelligent people can be when it comes to politics. None of these actually believe 95% of what they say with any real conviction, you know. That doesn't mean the process is "broken"; it's always been that way, and always will be, in a democratic system. When politicians have to curry favor to the wishes of the public, and the public is an ugly mass of misinformed and conflicting priorities, politicians have to lie. It's inevitable.
