I feel like a lot of you guys disliked Tidus when you were younger because he reminds you of yourselves. Not to get to Freudian or anything, just my theory.
The older you get the more you realize he is an angsty, overly defensive, sensitive teenager and for good reason:
His mom sucked. His father was an over-bearing alpha male who he could never live up to. Then right as he lives up to him, his father disappears.
He copes rather well and he is the best FF lead imo
