As far as actual PS3 games...

MGS4 is good. Very good. But it definitely isn't for everyone and you should be aware that its online is closing its doors next month, a little-known but very disappointing fact.

The Uncharted series, apart from the first entry, is almost hard to dislike. The first gets a lot of flack for how repetitive and unnecessarily lengthy its shooting bouts are and it deserves all the criticism it can get for that but it's still enjoyable. The second and (from what I can tell from previews and player reception...) third fix all that and have great online.

Assassin's Creed is another good series whose first entry suffers. This time it's just horrible repetition at work but the second game and on fix that for the most part.

Get Mass Effect 1-3 for 360 and not PS3. You are missing content otherwise. Including the entire first game which contrary to popular B8 belief does not in fact suck, just skip the side missions if you find them off-putting. This is the best new series of the generation, controversial ending be damned.

Sonic Generations is quite fun but not as lengthy as I like as far as sixty-dollar games are concerned. The good news is that it's significantly cheaper now and well worth the price.

FFXIII is not worth playing but for $15 I suppose there might easily be enough content in there to lead you to think otherwise. The battle system and most of the music are both solid and the characters aren't horrible. The plot is terrible.

Red Dead Redemption is quite good if you like open-worlders.

Skyrim is excellent as well but best on PC. If that's an option then take it. If not then get it for 360.

Dark Souls is great if you want a hard time and a moderately engrossing world. I emphasize the hard time though, that's kinda the draw.

Get Tales of Vesperia for 360 and Tales of Graces f for PS3 if you like that series. So far I haven't really gotten into it (I hated Symphonia...) but these sound like two really well-received entries, so yeah.

Valkyria Chronicles is pretty good but not the godsend Board 8 seems to think. It's only a godsend in a generation practically devoid of decent JRPGs. It isn't... the second coming.

Nier looks good. I haven't played it.
