I'm not sure AI is the right word here, but he's right. I don't have to worry about something beyond my control with Ashley.
This is particularly important, because most of my enjoyment from RE4 comes from being able to manage the game to a rather fine degree. The enemies move and attack slowly, I can slow and stun even more by hitting their legs or head, I can shoot down their projectiles, and I can pause at any time and instantly switch weapons. Getting hit takes a large amount of your health percentage wise, and there's no regeneration BS, which is enough incentive to try to get hit very rarely (which is quite possible). Overabundance of herbs does undercut that effect though, unfortunately.
A shame that RE5 basically just takes a s*** on all of that.
