It's not victim blaming, it's people pointing out that this guy missed the common sense boat. When some chick pulls out all your teeth you probably didn't deserve it but when that chick is your ex you just dumped, you were stupid to trust her with anything.
It's no different when people say "yeah it sucks you got raped but you really shouldn't have been walking at 2AM through a bad neighborhood while being so drunk that you barely knew where you were, while wearing tight clothes and a short skirt."
You can call that victim blaming if you want, I call it "here's a guidebook on how not to get raped or have your teeth pulled out." No one is saying that he deserved it or that she doesn't deserve to go to jail, only that he could've been a lot smarter about the situation. In the end there's a lot of s***ty things that can happen to us that we have to make smart decisions to avoid.
