Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem
I've played a Silent Hill game sever years ago, and while it was a nice game it has more scary atmosphere than actual scariness. So I have to pass that.
I've heard about Eternal Darkness before, but I don't have a GC, so I won't be able to try it.

Seems like Silent Hill is pretty much the opposite of what he wants, it's all about atmosphere in that
Eternal Darkness is good, and Fatal Frame has a lot of Boo moments as well
You could also try eversion and Yume Nikki
Fatal Frame looks interesting, might try that out.
Eversion was just a "wtf"-scary game, not really the scary I'm looking for. Dunno about Yume Nikki, need to look more into it.

Dead Space / its sequel
As far as I've heard, Dead Space starts out scary, but gets predictable after a while. It does look like a good game, and would like to play it sometime, but it won't be for the scariness since it gets, well, predictable.
